Pirates Essay

Essay Question #4
Money aside, I would prefer to work with Bill Gates over Steve Jobs for many reasons. Money is the only involved reason that I would ever want to work with Steve Jobs. He is over the top, irrational, and clearly overworks all of his employees. Bill Gates took a more personal, kind outlook on his employees, because of his natural, simple personality.
Steve Jobs got caught up in the booming economy, which turned him into an overpowered, dictator of a boss. He yelled at people he knew on a personal level for not reaching his perfectionist standards. Jobs also got so obsessed with producing the best and making the most money that he lost sight of what he and his friends truly cared about, which was the joy and fun that came from making their computers. He fell under the typical standard of what he didn’t want to become. He reduced his company to competition, just so he could make an excuse to have his “more advanced” workers, or “Macintosh workers” work more hours. He was never satisfied with their production and they received verbal abuse for it. His qualities completely contradict my central beliefs and I would have many problems with working for him.
Bill Gates, although a very intelligent and successful man, set different standards for his workers and friends, and never let his job get the best of him. He had always been more of a rebellious man, and therefore took the company into his own hands so that he could make money for the right reasons. He didn’t want to become overpowered and simply wanted to make computers, because that’s what he loved to do. Bill Gates never got caught up in Capitalism and he showed compassion towards his friends. Despite having a very competitive job, he didn’t forget how to set his job aside and have fun. Gates is a more ideal boss for me and I would have greatly enjoyed working for him.

Dave Matthews report

Currently I am around 6 months away from the Dave Matthews Band concert and each day seems closer and closer. Lately I haven't been listening to him as much because I have been a little burned out from him. So, I've been listening to some other stuff that I like. Last night I had a dream that was extremely weird though, and it envolved Dave Matthews. During my entire dream, his music was playing. During transition periods where the song changed, my vision would start to shake and then turn black and I couldn't see, but when his music turned back on, I could see again. The dream freaked me out a bit, but maybe it's some crazy sign that indicates my dependence on his music. That would be weird, and frankly not good, but I should be fine.
