Summer is so close

We have just 3 days left after today. All we have is 5 exams and were done. On tuesday we have english and French. On Wednesday we have Math and Biology. Finally, on Thursday we have World Cultures. After then I will be chilling in my pool, sipping on iced tea, and having the best summer of my life. This summer is mainly going to be great because I don't have too many vacations but the vacations I have are going to be really fun. I'm going to Hawaii, doing a couple of lacrosse trips, and going to my lakehouse in Minnesota for a couple of weeks. The first day of summer I'm going to go fishing and then party that night. But for now, I have to sit in class and impatiently wait for school to get out.

Our project

Austin Patry and my project is finally finished and all squeaky clean. We dotted the i's and crossed our t's and we are all finished. We did it for her flash animation class and we compiled all of the student's best works of art and showed an individual page for each of them. I found that even on such a simplified website designer (dreamweaver), it can be really hard to make the website look how you truly want it to. Our project was probably one of the most challenging projects in the class considering we had to work with flash animation, which we haven't talked about all year. But now were done with it all and now all we have to worry about is exams.

Lacrosse

Well... My lacrosse season is over, meaning:
1. I don't have practice from 4 to 6:15 everyday.
2. I don't have to run from 4 to 6:15 everyday.
3. I don't have to get yelled at from 4 to 6:15 everyday.
4. I don't have to dedicate most of my afterschool hours to lacrosse everyday.
5. I don't have to dread going to lacrosse practice everyday.
We lost in the 3rd round of the playoffs to Episcopal of Houston (8-6). I love lacrosse and don't want to give off the wrong impression, but lacrosse this year was extremely tough and most of the team ended up not liking it. Now I get to come home after school everyday and finish my homework early and then have some spare time to do whatever I want. I'm also already anticipating summer lax.

Pirates Essay

Essay Question #4
Money aside, I would prefer to work with Bill Gates over Steve Jobs for many reasons. Money is the only involved reason that I would ever want to work with Steve Jobs. He is over the top, irrational, and clearly overworks all of his employees. Bill Gates took a more personal, kind outlook on his employees, because of his natural, simple personality.
Steve Jobs got caught up in the booming economy, which turned him into an overpowered, dictator of a boss. He yelled at people he knew on a personal level for not reaching his perfectionist standards. Jobs also got so obsessed with producing the best and making the most money that he lost sight of what he and his friends truly cared about, which was the joy and fun that came from making their computers. He fell under the typical standard of what he didn’t want to become. He reduced his company to competition, just so he could make an excuse to have his “more advanced” workers, or “Macintosh workers” work more hours. He was never satisfied with their production and they received verbal abuse for it. His qualities completely contradict my central beliefs and I would have many problems with working for him.
Bill Gates, although a very intelligent and successful man, set different standards for his workers and friends, and never let his job get the best of him. He had always been more of a rebellious man, and therefore took the company into his own hands so that he could make money for the right reasons. He didn’t want to become overpowered and simply wanted to make computers, because that’s what he loved to do. Bill Gates never got caught up in Capitalism and he showed compassion towards his friends. Despite having a very competitive job, he didn’t forget how to set his job aside and have fun. Gates is a more ideal boss for me and I would have greatly enjoyed working for him.

Dave Matthews report

Currently I am around 6 months away from the Dave Matthews Band concert and each day seems closer and closer. Lately I haven't been listening to him as much because I have been a little burned out from him. So, I've been listening to some other stuff that I like. Last night I had a dream that was extremely weird though, and it envolved Dave Matthews. During my entire dream, his music was playing. During transition periods where the song changed, my vision would start to shake and then turn black and I couldn't see, but when his music turned back on, I could see again. The dream freaked me out a bit, but maybe it's some crazy sign that indicates my dependence on his music. That would be weird, and frankly not good, but I should be fine.

Tables

Right now in Web design, we are learning to make tables for HTML pages. So far, I have understood everything pretty well and haven't had any difficulties with it. We have learned things like how to space out the cells of our tables, or how to take out collums to merge 2 or 3 cells so you can make a title. The only bad thing is that these tables can get so confusing with, because you have to make sure you've closed everything with an ending tag. It's Wednesday today, and it is an amazing day. There is a light overcast, and it is about 70 degrees. Other than my concussion, everything has been going great, and I have been on a streak of great days.

Summer

At the end of the 3rd quarter I'm starting to get ancy, because I am looking forward at summer, which is in about 2 months. I don't have too much planned yet, except for Cabo, Mexico in June. That will be pretty fun, mainly because I haven't been there for a couple of years. In August we will probably end up going to Seaside, Florida. I love Seaside so much, and I wish I could live there. We will have a couple of other vacations probably, but other than that I will just be sitting back and enjoying the sweeet sweet summer time.

Dave matthews

I have now realized that my life doesn't go on with out dave matthews, and so once a week I will blog about him. His music is so diverse, and many people know him as one type of artist, and others know a completely different side. Really, his music has developed from more mellow to more alternative rock. This is partially because of the loss of their trumpet/flute/saxaphone player Leroi Moore, who passed away in 2008. He brought a different dimension to their music with solos, outroes, and even main tunes. They were really established in the 90's. They released many great songs such as Number 41, which was their "go-to-song" in 1998 and 99. They have gone from the mellow and slow melody of number 41 to the more upbeat tune of "You and Me" and "Funny the Way It Is." Last year in 2009 they released their Grux King album which has brought large entertainment to America and Europe where the have toured.

Optical Illusions are amazing

Everyone looks at optical illusions and has been tricked by the simplest pictures or series of lines. The optical illusions that I'm interested in are the video optical illusions. There is music that has certain frequency that plays while you watch different movements and shapes that make your vision swirl. My first time I ever looked at one of those videos I absolutely freaked out. I thought that I was going into a seizure and I immediately ran to my bathroom to realize that I fine. Moral of the story: read the description of the video before you watch something like that.

Color-blind proof web pages

When making my web pages I like to use lots of different, bright and dark colors. You can change the color of your background and your text. One thing I was not aware of, is that many blind people have trouble looking at websites like this. They have trouble making distinctions in between colors like blue and green. Our teacher, Ms. Goudy gave us a link to a website that lets you enter in your address for your website, and it will show you what it looks like for a color-blind person. When I saw my web page in "color-blind view" I found that they wouldn't have problems seeing and reading from my page, although many of my friends had unreadable pages. This made me realize that you should be more aware of different people with handicaps.

Images

We have been working on our Images web pages. So, far I think this is the easiest web page we've done, but there's a lot of stuff on it. I have only run into trouble a few times on it, but when I have, I knew how to fix it. We are mainly learning stuff like how to put images on your web page, and which types of images show up on the page to look in a certain way. And it's going well so far along with all my other classes!

DAVEEE

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND COMES TO DALLAS SEPTEMBER 11, 2010. I'm freaking out right now because it's gonna be rediculous. I already got my tickets. I got front of the lawn tickets at superpage center already, but i might sell them to my friend and get pit tickets. Dave came in 2009 but I couldn't go because I was out of town. But I wouldn't miss this next concert for a million bucks. So my life will be a lot better in 7 months. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WACHlYFRixM&feature=related

Haha it rained at that concert..... didn't stop them. and it wouldn't have stopped me.

Lacrosse

Were 3 weeks in and so far not so good. My lungs hurt and our offense is stupid and doesn't work. It has potential of great looks but the looks are across the field and are very hard to make. We had a scrimage last night against Copell and the varsity lost but JV won. Soooo I guess we'll probably run today.. hopefully not though because I'm so tired.

Lacrosse

So far lacrosse is going well. I'm really sore, and I don't at all look forward to practice, but I guess all this will pay off during the season. We have practice early on Saturday, and then we go to a ranch for "team bonding". It's probably just going to be a hazing fest. I'm a freshman so i'll probably get hazed, but I don't really care.

My phone

Cell phones are used for many things anywhere from texting to studying. Personally I don't study or do school related things with my phone mainly because its not an iphone and doesn't have apps or all that. I used to have an iphone, but when I did I wasn't really interested in using it for school. Some good uses for a phone would be writing in test and quiz dates on your phone calendar, using your calculator for math, and researching things on google for a project. Iphones and other good smart phones have good internet(usually), calculators, and well organized calendars, so they're very qualified. The only problem is I could see myself getting off track and playing a game instead of doing my homework. So I'll stick to using my phone for texting, picture taking, and calls instead of for school.

SNOW

Today is a thursday and it has been snowing really hard since 3 in the morning. I'm really mad that we had to go to school today, because there's a thick layer of slush on the road and a solid 3 inches of snow on the ground. Our headmaster said that we might get out after 3rd period, but still I'm sick of being at school right now. Also, I have lacrosse today at 4-6... Our field is completely covered in snow, and its 32 degrees, so lacrosse is going to be terrible. I would post a wintery picture of Dallas covered in snow right now but my phone doesn't have internet, so I wouldn't be able to send the picture to myself.

Lacrosse

Today marks the day that lacrosse season officially starts. We have our first practice today, which is apparently pretty hard. We have to run a '50'... I'm not sure what it is, but from what everyones saying about it, it's not going to be fun. Lacrosse is really my main sport. I've been playing it for a while now, but this is highschool, and I never know what the outcome of my first practice could be. I hope that it will go well, if not I still have the rest of the year to improve whatever I have to improve. I look forward today and will keep you posted on what happens.
